Why didn’t the Roman centurion ask Jesus a question? He merely stated the details of his servant’s situation. Was he seeking to be respectful? Was he afraid of receiving rejection to a request? We do not know. However, if we keep reading, we do learn the rest of the story. It begins with someone asking a question. That someone is Jesus.
Jesus asks the centurion the question that encourages the soldier to respond in the affirmative. Jesus was willing. Jesus remains willing. So, I have a question for you. Are you willing to ask? Are you trying too much to be respectful and, therefore, not “bothering” Jesus with a request? Are you afraid of being disappointed? God invites you to ask. Jesus is loving, compassionate, and eager to show mercy and grace to all who ask. Have the confidence to ask the question today. He will listen. He enjoys listening to His children. If you are wondering if you should ask, I encourage you to go ahead and ask. #ordinarylives
