Cell phone reminders. Calendar alerts. “Post-it” notes. “Sharpie” jots on hands. “Please remind me” pleas. These are but a few ways among many by which we aid our abilities to remember. Why are such methods necessary? Because we are (at least most of us) prone to forget. As we close out the roller coaster of a year 2020 and head into the yet-to-be-determined 2021 we do well to spur our memories a bit. Today’s blog is not one designed to cause you to recall the less-than-awesome moments you experienced this year, nor is it crafted to help you recall the hallelujah-worthy events of 2020. Rather, it's purpose is to bring us back to the most important of things, namely, the importance of remembering the Lord. Does that sound strange? If so, let me assure you that generation after generation of people have needed the very same reminder. Nearly 3500 years ago Moses, speaking Holy Spirit-inspired words, declared an instruction to the Israelites. We find those words in Deuteronomy.
Knowing the power of repetition, Moses furthered the charge a bit later.
In those verses Moses provided examples to recall specific ways God provided for them.
The Bible contains nearly 300 uses of the word “remember.” We do well to remember. When we remember the Lord and what He has done for us we build strength for the endurance of living our everyday, ordinary lives for God. #ordinarylives
