He Listens

Samuel was a great man. He served God wholeheartedly and, as a priest, led Israel faithfully. His existence started with a prayer.
1 Samuel 1:10-11 (NIV)
In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly. And she made a vow, saying, “LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”
Celebrating the fact that God listened to her prayer, Hannah named her son Samuel which means “heard by God.”

Hagar was a great mom. She loved her son and called to God for help. As a reminder of the goodness of God, she named her son Ishmael which means “God hears” and to the place where she heard from God, she gave the name Beer Lahai Roi which means well of the Living One who sees me.

God hears. More than that, God listens.

Hannah’s emotional pain drove her to a place where she reached out for God’s help. He heard and listened.

Hagar’s emotional pain brought her to a listening place. There she experienced God’s presence.

Where do you go when you face emotional pain?

I encourage you to talk to Him. When you do, bring your pain to God. He will hear you and He will listen.
