![]() Five weeks ago, I wrote about moms. Dads, it’s our turn. In five days, men who are dads will receive aprons for the grill, ties for their necks, books for their shelves, tools for their caves, as well as candy, boxer shorts, money clips, coffee cups, cards (the ones hand-illustrated by my children were always my favorites), and hugs. I keep a folder of notes and cards from my daughter and sons in my bedstand in close reach. Clearly, I’m a “Words of Affirmation” guy. 😊 Several years ago, my wife and kids asked me what I wanted for Father’s Day. Nothing came to mind, that is, until something did. I asked them to “give” me their choice of an activity that each of us could do one-on-one. Over the subsequent years, I have hiked, canoed, dip-netted, watched movies, gone out to eat, and other activities because of what they “gave” me for Father’s Day. In my estimation, there are no more valuable gifts. I do not know what I will be given this year, but I am truly looking forward to hearing my gifts. Dads, if you’re like me and realize that you already have enough stuff (and don’t really wear ties and that World’s Greatest Dad shirts simply aren’t true), ask for time with your daughters and sons. #ordinarylives
