While many of us would agree that summer has arrived, the official start of summer this year is this coming Sunday, June 20th. It shares the date with Father's Day. I decided not to Google or Wikipedia the reason for placement of the start of summer. I'll leave that to you. All I know is that the calendar, come Sunday, will finally agree with the weather. When does summer start? Was it a couple of weeks ago when temperatures increased and green overtook brown or will it be Sunday morning at 12 a.m. when those who track these sorts of things say it will? Your answer to that question depends on your personality (and, perhaps, your Enneagram number). The Bible contains accounts of people who believed because of what they saw; see Philip in John 14 for an example. It also records how others preferred careful dedicated study for their assurance such as the Berean Jews who before converting to the Christian faith, "examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true" (Acts 17:11). I really like the fact that God reaches and loves all sorts of peoples! He called Thomas who had lots of questions. He invited the hothead sons of Zebedee to follow Him. He accepted fully those who saw one miracle and signed on as disciples. His message connected with a man who "carefully investigated everything from the beginning" (Luke 1:3). Jesus loves heart people. Jesus loves head people. Remember God calls us to love Him with heart, soul, mind, and strength. So, keep thinking and asking questions. Also keep feeling and accepting the unexplainable. Love the Lord your God with your heart and mind. #ordinarylives
