I am on Week 5 of my second sabbatical. It's great to have been in one church for fourteen years (and, Lord willing, looking forward to fourteen plus more). I am thankful to be part of a church family that recognizes the importance (and value) of times of sabbatical. I pondered the timeline of my ministry at Rabbit Creek Church. Having been here just over fourteen years - in addition to the weddings, funerals, baptisms, Life Groups, counseling sessions, etc. - I have preached over 650 sermons. As I think about that number, I add to it another roughly 1000 sermons preached at my previous places of service - two of which had schedules that called for two to three different sermons a week.
The word of God is alive. It does not change, yet it changes us. The words stay the same, yet we cannot exhaust them. The five-year-old and ninety-five-year-old can read and understand and hear from God. ![]() I love the three Bibles you see pictured here. But, more importantly, I love the Bible - the very words of God. If it's been a while since you're read it, open it today. God provided those words for you. #ordinarylives
