Tangible Reminders

Tomorrow, our church family will gather for our annual Ash Wednesday service. We enjoy the time we dedicate to Scripture reading, prayer, and reflection. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the tradition of Christians during which we prepare ourselves for the remembrance of Jesus’ death and the celebration of His resurrection.

While we should keep the truth of both in our hearts and minds all year long, special times like Ash Wednesday and Lent help us set focused times for intentional remembrance. I am thankful for the gifts that Jesus gave His people through which we are driven to remember all that He did for us out of His love for us.

Lord’s Supper

• We eat and drink in remembrance of His sacrifice.

Lord’s Prayer

• We pray as He taught us to pray.

Baptism

• We go under the water remembering His death and joyfully come out of the water in light of His victory.

Great Commandment

• We love God and neighbor because He first loved us.

Great Commission

• We reach and teach in light of His reaching out to us.

Each time you participate in one of these gifts, give thanks for Jesus and His love for you.
