The Days After

While the dates aren't exact (probably not even close), I'll go with them.

• December 25th - The birth of Jesus.
  
• January 2nd - The circumcision of Jesus.

What happened during the time between those days?

Just as the Bible is silent as to Jesus' childhood until age twelve, it provides no insight on the days between December 26th and January 1st. So, we're left to speculate.

• On day two, was there finally room in an inn?
• Who, besides the shepherds, popped in for a visit?
• Did Jesus cry much?
• Did any of them get any sleep?
• How much anxiety did Joseph and Mary experience as the you-will-raise-the-Messiah words sank in?

Your attempt at answers is as good as mine. We cannot return to that point in history to discover the answers. If we are followers of Jesus, we can, however, return in our minds to the time (or gradual process) when we chose to accept Jesus as Lord, the time of our birth - second birth that is.

• What has happened since your second birth?
• What did you choose to do on day two?
• How are you different?
• Do you cry much?
• Are you filled with joy?
• Do you rest?
• Are you filled with anxiety as the take-up-your-cross and deny-yourself words sink in?

The first few days of Jesus' life were important. Every day of life is important.
