Today one of my dreams comes true. My first book is released. Thank you to all of you who have already pre-ordered The Ordinary Way. If you have not purchased one yet, now is a good time to do so. Today I thought it would be a good idea to share the back story. Why did I write the book? Reason #1 - I wanted to. Since the days of my graduate degree pursuit, I have wanted to write a book. The itch to do so afflicted me until my Pentel P205 finally touched the white legal pad some twenty years later. I wrote much of my first draft while sitting below towering trees of Kijabe, Kenya. The sights and sounds of that beautiful country certainly aided my focus. Reason #2 - I am passionate about the theme. As stated in the subtitle, The Ordinary Way is "a unique way to live." Hundreds of books (many of them good) urge readers to live exceptionally and strive for the seemingly impossible goal (which, by the way, is sometimes actually impossible). Far less has been written on living well and reaching for the achievable. The Ordinary Way, understand, is not a book about settling or welcoming mediocrity. My book is about living in a way that best suits you (your wiring, personality, and dreams). It is about striving for the best you can be. We do ourselves a disservice when we miss out on living in a way fitting our design. Reason #3 - I have great encouragers. While I often doubted myself as I sought to fulfill the dream of being an author, no one else joined me in those doubts. Anyone who may have doubted refrained (thankfully) from telling me. My amazing wife of nearly 25 years continues to believe in and support me. Thank you, Vonda Kay. My parents, who always told me that I was able, continue to cheer me on. My dear friend Carol never doubted my ability and saw to it that my written thoughts translated well to those who read them. For all of these saints and many more, I am thankful. For those three reasons, I wrote The Ordinary Way. I am so glad that I did. I hope you will be, too. #ordinarylives Follow this link to order your copy of The Ordinary Way: A Unique Way To Live.
