This past weekend, I spent quality time with dozens of men at our annual Men’s Retreat. In addition to our rich times of worship and learning, we enjoy cornhole and RC car competitions (two separate events; although we may have to try combining them next year!). Other favorites include ping pong, pool (the table kind), huge fires (contained), and lots of eating. The only real drawback to the whole weekend is the snoring. While most of the men returned home on Sunday afternoon after worship at the camp, I returned Saturday evening in order to be back at Rabbit Creek Church to continue preaching my Hebrews series on Sunday morning. Fittingly, the passage for Sunday was the tenth chapter. Here are a few of the most powerful verses.
These are some of the favorite verses of pastors who enjoy their sheep coming to church. We love those verses not simply because we want people to show up (although that’s a good start). We desire to see people, as the verse says, spurring, meeting, and encouraging. When people of Christ gather together, God is pleased, and we are strengthened. It really is worth it.
Continue in your attending if you are already in the habit. If you are out of the habit, let me encourage you to start a new habit. We need each other. #ordinarylives
